The Immigration and Foreigner Policy Bureau of the Ministry of Justice provides the following guidelines on the targets for 'health checkups at Ministry of Justice-designated medical institutions' applied during foreigner registration and residence status changes, as well as the required test items by residence status.
1. Health Checkup Targets for Foreigner Registration (Residence Status)
Individuals seeking long-term stay in Korea with specific qualifications must undergo a health checkup at a designated medical institution when registering as foreigners.
Required Residence Statuses
Technical Training (D-3), Language Instructor (E-2), Arts and Entertainment (E-6)
Seafarer Employment (E-10), Visit and Employment (H-2)
2. Required Test Items by Residence Status
Required test items vary depending on the characteristics of each residence status, so individuals must ensure they undergo tests appropriate for their status.

3. Important Notice on Tuberculosis Testing
For public health safety, tuberculosis testing is mandatory for the above health checkup targets.
  • When applying for status change: Nationals of high-risk tuberculosis countries (35 countries) who entered on a short-term visa (90 days or less) and wish to change to a long-term residence status must submit a 'Tuberculosis Diagnosis Certificate' issued by a Ministry of Justice-designated medical institution or public health center.
  • When applying for a visa: Foreigners applying for a visa for long-term stay of 90 days or more must submit a Tuberculosis Diagnosis Certificate to the overseas diplomatic mission in their country.

4. Administrative Matters and Inquiries
These health checkups are valid only when conducted at medical institutions designated by the Ministry of Justice, and it is necessary to verify that the medical institution is a designated one before the checkup.
