System for marriage immigrants (F-6 visa) to invite their family or relatives as seasonal workers (E-8-2 visa).
Eligible invitees:
Relatives within the fourth degree of kinship and their spouses residing in the home country of marriage immigrants married to Korean nationals.
* Note: Starting from 2026, the scope will be reduced from within the fourth degree to within the second degree, so check the exact guidelines from the Ministry of Justice applicable at the time of invitation.
The scope of marriage immigrants includes holders of F-6 residency status, those who acquired permanent residency (F-5) after marriage to a national, or those who acquired citizenship (naturalized through marriage), etc.
Age requirements:
Individuals aged 19 or older and under 55 years old. (However, local governments may set their own permitted age limits, so there may be differences.)
Quota limits:
A maximum of 20 people per marriage immigrant. (Based on annual cumulative total, and this may also change.)
Exclusions (health and others):
- Active tuberculosis patients, infectious disease patients (e.g., COVID-19 infected), drug users.
- Those who are pregnant as of the visa issuance certificate application date or have given birth within the past year, etc.
- Those with no restrictions on entry to Korea.
- Those with no criminal record.
Application process:
The marriage immigrant residing in Korea recommends their family or relatives to the city/county/district office recruiting seasonal workers.
After immigration review by the local government and confirmation of assignment, apply for and receive the visa issuance certificate.
The invited foreigner submits the visa issuance certificate to the Korean embassy or consulate in their home country, applies for the E-8-2 visa, receives it, and then enters Korea.
Key required documents include family relationship proof documents (family register, birth certificate, etc., issued by home country administrative agencies and their translations), criminal record certificate, health check certificate, tuberculosis diagnosis certificate, etc.
Stay period:
Generally, stay is possible for up to 8 months. (Based on E-8-2 visa)
Most important point:
This program may have different application periods and detailed conditions each year and by semester (first half/second half) depending on the manpower needs of each local government. Therefore, if you wish to invite someone, it is most reliable to directly contact the city/county/district office (agricultural technology center or relevant department) in the area where the marriage immigrant resides or where work is desired to check the exact recruitment announcement and procedures for that year.
