If a foreigner who has received a re-entry permit and departed cannot re-enter within the given period due to a valid reason, the re-entry permit period can be extended at a Republic of Korea diplomatic mission abroad.
A foreigner who wishes to continue staying in the Republic of Korea beyond the permitted stay period of their current status of stay must obtain a stay period extension permit.
