Wages must be paid in currency directly to the worker for the full amount at least once a month on a fixed date, except in cases where there are special provisions in laws or collective agreements. This is to prevent unfair deductions or delays in wages by the employer and to promote the worker's living stability. Therefore, wages cannot be arbitrarily deducted by the employer except in cases stipulated by law such as labor income tax, pension or employment insurance premiums, or cases under collective agreements such as union dues. Even if the wage claim is transferred to another party, the transferee cannot claim payment from the employer, and the employer must still pay the wages directly to the worker. In the case of garnishment, it is only possible within half the amount. Since wages cannot be offset or reduced unilaterally by the employer against general claims, the employer cannot deduct damage compensation for harm caused by the worker to the company, or the worker's debts unilaterally from the worker's wages or severance pay.
