Unemployment benefits refer to a system in which the government provides a certain amount of allowance for a certain period to stabilize the livelihood of the unemployed worker and their family when the worker becomes unemployed. It consists of job-seeking benefits and job promotion allowances, and the job promotion allowances include four types: early re-employment allowance, vocational training allowance, wide-area job search activity expense, and relocation expense. To receive these unemployment benefits, one must have worked for more than 6 months at a workplace subject to employment insurance and been forcibly dismissed due to dismissal or other reasons by the employer. If a person quits their job voluntarily, or is dismissed for receiving a sentence of imprisonment or more for violating the Criminal Act or job-related laws, or is dismissed for causing enormous damage to the company due to embezzlement of public funds, disclosure of company secrets, destruction of property, falsification of documents, etc., due to serious personal fault, they cannot receive unemployment benefits. However, they can receive benefits if there is a justifiable reason, such as long-term continued wage arrears or suspension of business, voluntary retirement or honorary retirement forced by the company, quitting because it is certain that the company will soon go bankrupt, suspend operations, or conduct mass layoffs, quitting because new technology or new machinery is introduced and it is impossible to adapt to new tasks, or quitting due to difficulty in performing work because of lack of physical strength, mental and physical disabilities, illness, etc.
