The period during which a worker who meets the eligibility criteria for unemployment benefits can receive unemployment benefits corresponding to their entitled number of benefit days. In our country, it is 12 months, and in cases where an unemployed person has unavoidable reasons for not being able to find employment, it can be extended up to a maximum of 4 years (Article 48, Paragraph 2 of the Employment Insurance Act).
•Purpose: To encourage unemployed workers to report their unemployment promptly and promote job search activities.
