What is Statutory Working Hours?

The hours agreed upon between the employer and the employee to work. According to the Labor Standards Act, in principle, the monthly statutory working hours must be set within 209 hours for a weekly 40-hour schedule or 226 hours for a weekly 44-hour schedule (Labor Standards Act Article 50). For workers aged 15 or older but under 18, it must be set within 7 hours per day and 35 hours per week (same Act Article 69). For workers engaged in hazardous or dangerous work as prescribed by Presidential Decree, it must be set within 6 hours per day and 34 hours per week (Occupational Safety and Health Act Article 46).
