It is the only organization representing the positions and interests of employers on the international labor stage. Established in 1920, it is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. It has as members 136 employer organizations from 132 countries worldwide, including the Korea Employers Federation (KEF) in Korea, the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) in the UK, the United States Council for International Business (USCIB) in the US, and the Japan Business Federation (JBF) in Japan. The objectives of IOE's activities are: promoting and protecting the interests of employers and employer organizations on the international stage; fostering the creation and development of free enterprise; supporting the establishment and capacity building of employer organizations; and promoting information exchange and strengthening relationships among members. Recognized as the sole organization representing the positions and interests of employers on the international labor stage, IOE particularly focuses on promoting and reflecting employers' positions at the International Labour Organization (ILO). Its highest decision-making body is the 'IOE General Council,' which convenes once a year.
