What is a Supervisor?

A person in the management organization who directly commands and supervises tasks related to production and affiliated employees, or the head of the department responsible for that position. The employer must ensure that the supervisor performs safety and health tasks related to their duties, and in particular, for tasks requiring hazard prevention, designate the supervisor as the safety officer to perform safety tasks (Article 14 of the Act).
The duties of a supervisor are as follows.
①Safety and health inspection of machinery, equipment, or facilities related to the tasks commanded and supervised by the supervisor in the workplace (hereinafter referred to as "the relevant tasks"), and confirmation of any abnormalities
②Inspection of work clothes, protective gear, and protective devices for workers under the supervisor, and education and guidance on their wearing and use
③Reporting of industrial accidents occurring in the relevant tasks and emergency measures in response
④Confirmation and supervision of workplace cleanup, organization, and securing of passages for the relevant tasks
⑤Cooperation with guidance and advice from the industrial safety and health manager and health manager of the relevant workplace
⑥Other matters related to the safety and health of the relevant tasks as prescribed by the Minister of Employment and Labor
