Most foreigners entering the Republic of Korea for short-term tourism or transit purposes can enter without a visa under the tourist transit qualification (B-2, 30 days) based on reciprocity or national interest considerations. However, Canada is granted 6 months, and Australia is granted 90 days.
The concept of a visa in our country means 'the consul's recommendation for a foreigner's entry permission application,' which is different from the entry permission itself. Therefore, even if a foreigner has obtained a Republic of Korea visa, the immigration officer may still refuse that foreigner's entry. Republic of Korea visas include 'single-entry visa,' which allows entry only once, and 'multiple-entry visa,' which allows entry any number of times within the visa validity period. Additionally, there are special forms of visas such as 'group visa' and 'foreigner entry permission certificate,' and as one form for visa issuance, there is the 'visa issuance approval certificate'.
